Description:Oil on board depicting cartoon detail of images that were considered by the artist Robert William Buss for his final painting entitled The Mock Mayor.

The townsfolk of Newcastle-under-Lyme elected a 'mock mayor' in a parody of the formal election that took place among the town's councillors. The bucking donkey can be seen in the final painting.
