Description:This portrait by an unknown artist depicts Nathaniel Beard who was Mayor of Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1675 and again in 1682. His grandson,also named Nathaniel Beard, became Mayor of the Borough in 1752. The portrait shows Nathaniel in a red jacket and waistcoat over a frilled white shirt. His right hand is on his hip.
