Description:Taken in 1960 this photograph shows the Hinds Vaults Public House located on the corner of Lad Lane in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The barrel sign above the doorway indicates to passers by that it is a pub. The date on the barrel is 1843, this is thought to have been the year that wooden framed building was faced with brickwork, given its two bay windows and cast iron balustrades.
