Description:This photograph by Thomas Warham shows Nantwich Road, also called Quarry Road. The first quarrying of sand and gravel in the area was by Charley Edwards, the owner of the nearby Firs Farm, in 1929. The quarry becane the Kent's Hill Gravel Mine and Quarry but was shortlived, closing down at the end of the Second World War.
