Description:The wand has been been carved with images of a tortoise, a frog, and a sa-amulet (a protective symbol).
The wand was a symbol of office and symbolised the magician’s authority over the animals on the wand.

The man who originally acquired this object was called William Richards. He was a keen archaeologist and a local collector of archaeology and objects from different countries.

The collection was left to the museum after his death in 1986.
