Description:The Borough's first 'blackface' Minstrel Troupe. As you can see from the image some performers have applied theatrical make-up so that they represent black people. Today this would be considered highly inappropriate, however when this photograph was taken in 1897 it was thought of as an acceptable form of entertainment.
