Description:Hat making was a prime industry Newcastle-under-Lyme in the Victorian period.
This top hat was produced in Newcastle at during the 19th century.

You very rarely see anyone wearing a top hat today exept perhaps at a wedding or other formal occasion. But during the nineteenth century most men wore a top hat.
