Description:Female police officers wore different uniforms to the men till around the 1990s, when the uniforms were altered to the No. 1 dress (rarely seen today except for formal occasions). The bowler hat was introduced to the female uniform whereas the peaked cap was worn by men. The black and white band is worn by all officers (except in the City of London were it is red and white).
