Date:1850 - 1920 (c.)
Description:This bonnet was possibly handmade and used for Christenings or formal occasions. It has broderie anglaise along the neck and the long ribbon ties were used for extra decoration, as they would have been left loose and hanging down the baby’s front or tied in an extravagant bow. Bonnets were an important accessory for babies as they were used as a symbol of innocence.
