Description:This scene shows a Procession down Church Street in Audley on Hospital Saturday in about 1912. At the time many hospitals, including the North Staffordshire Infirmary and Eye Hospital at Hartshill were supported by voluntary contributions and fundraising activities. At this 'Hospital Saturday' procession money would have been collected for the local 'Hospital Fund'. Children and adults are pictured in their best clothes or in fancy dress, and groups such as the Audley and Wood Lane Prize Bands would have taken part. The Church Lad's Brigade can be seen parading in the foreground.

This photograph was taken by the local photograph, Thomas Warham, from his home in Audley.
