Date:1942 - 1943 (c.)

Description:A very different landscape to that of the present. Note the fork in the road to the right of the image - that is the junction between Northwood Lane and Clayton Road, the site of a roundabout today connecting both of these roads with a modern housing estate (Westbury Park). The houses on Stafford Crescent and Clayton Lane have yet to be constructed either (see far left, middle of image). Clayton Hall is visible in the centre. During the War, this became 'HMS Daedalus', a land based Royal Naval Artificer Training Establishment.
