Description:Steps House still stands today, though the steps have been removed as the height of the road has been raised over the years. The tree filled site to the right of the house became the site of the Municipal Hall, which was built between 1888 and 1890. Newcastle Library now stands on this site. Beardmore's tailors can be seen to the left of Steps House.
