Description:A Smith and Sons taxi in Butt Lane, Kidsgrove, taken in the 1920s. The taxi is just passing J. Dean the cloggers, who at the time also owned a grocers and undertakers. The most famous resident of Butt Lane was perhaps Reginald Mitchell, the designer of the Spitfire aeroplane, who was born at 115 Congleton Road.
