Description:This view was taken from the top of St James' church roof and is looking out towards the Wedgwood monument. St. James' is a very old church and was largely built in the 14th century.
Audley is an ancient parish and is even mentioned in the Doomsday Book as 'Aldidelege'. It was originally a farming community, though coal mining and ironworks became the main industries during the 18th and 19th centuries. The 20th century saw the demise of both these industries and the Audley of 2002 was mainly a residential area.
