Description:The former Toll Gate Lodge of 1867, which apparently stood at the junction of what is now Brook Lane and Clayton Road.

Toll Gate Houses existed to collect the toll for travelling along certain sections of road. In return for the fee the road was maintained in a good state of repair by a turnpike trust.
