Description:This outing was probably from the Methodist Chapel that was located off Lower Street. Church outings were fairly common at the time, people travelling a little way into the countryside to enjoy a walk together or to share a picnic.

The Methodist Chapel on Lower Street dated from 1799 and was a large square red brick building, that has long since been demolished. The chapel was built as a Wesleyan Chapel, but in 1863 it was sold to the United Methodist Free Church.
