Date:1854

Description:A drawing of Madeley Old Hall by M. Scott. The drawing is inscribed on the back, 'house at Madeley Staffordshire where Charles 1st stayed after Boscobel'.

However Scott was mistaken, Charles I never stayed here, and neither did Charles II after Boscobel. In fact Charles II visited Francis Woolfe at Upper House at Madeley in Shropshire on 4th September 1651 before making his way back to Boscobel.

A mocking inscription can be seen above the first window, '16 Wallk k nave what look est at 47.ISB'.
