Description:An oil painting by Stuart Stevenson, commissioned for the Millennium by Newcastle-under-Lyme Museum and Art Gallery. This atmospheric painting depicts St. Margaret's church at Betley. The church dates back to the medieval period and is essentially a timber church with arches of Spanish chestnut in the nave. The church contains a magnificent east window that depicts Christ's Ascension into Heaven, and is a monument to Thomas William Fletcher Twemlow, a previous owner of the church.
