Date:May - December 1937 (c.)
Description:This photograph of Hick Street shows the cobbled road surface. These and others on Hick Street were the subject of demolition following the Housing Act of 1930. Some of the buildings are decorated with Union Jack bunting. 1936 saw two kings come to the throne after the death of King George V. King Edward VIII came to the throne first, but soon abdicated. It is likely that the bunting was for the Coronation celebrations of his brother King George VI on 12 May 1937.
