Description:William Harper was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1923. He served in the RAF as a wireless-operator-air-gunner during the Second World War. After the war he went to study at the Burslem School of Art. He then went on to work in the pottery industry designing and modelling ceramic figures for Geo. Wade's and later Royal Doulton.
Bill was a member of the Unit Ten Arts Society, a group of ex-Burslem School of Art students of the 1950's who exhibited once or twice a year at galleries in and around the Potteries.
Brampton Museum purchased the picture from an exhibition held in the Hobbergate Gallery in Newcastle during this time.
