Description:These plans were drawn up by Lee and Stevenson, Civil Engineers from London in 1853. They show the proposed new drainage for the Newcastle-under-Lyme area in accordance with the Public Health Act 1848. They are tracings based on the Ordnance Survey maps which were drawn up under the supervision of Captain Andrew Beatty in 1851. Places shown on this plan include Castle Bank, Pool Dam, Lower Street, Holborn and Church Street. Digitisation funded by Heritage Lottery Fund
