Description:A pre-1914 view of the Harecastle end of Brindley’s old "legging" tunnel with a boat about to pass through.

To the right of the photograph you can see a horse that has just been un harnessed ready to be led to the other end of the tunnel.

Thomas Telford’s new tunnel can be seen on the left.
