Date:1925

Description:The cannon was presented to Newcastle-under-Lyme by Samuel Christy MP sometime in the 1860's, after the Crimean War, as a mark of British victory. It now stands (2023) outside of the Brampton Museum and Art Gallery.

The tank was presented in 1919 as part of a national effort to recognise civilian fundraising. For a while, they were symbols of victory but were eventually scrapped in the 1930s and 40s after public opinion fell in the wake of crippling national debt and the spare metal was needed to fuel the war effort of the Second World War. It is believed that the Newcastle-under-Lyme tank was scrapped in 1940.
