Date:1937
Description:This photograph shows the small back yards of houses numbers 30 to 34 Hick Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme. It shows the poor living conditions the inhabitants had to withstand. The houses are delapidated and the outhouse in the foreground is missing some roof tiles. In the foreground are some household items that have been left on a ledge: a bottle, a kettle and what looks to be a metal teapot. These houses were demolished under the provisions of the Housing Act, 1930.
