Date:July 1965

Description:The village of Leycett was built in 1869 to house local miners. After the colliery in the area had closed and the branch railway was dismantled, in around 1964, there was no commercial point to the community and the village gradually became deserted. The majority of the village was demolished by the Coal Board in 1968-9.
